How to spend your Holidays
Important and Beneficial Advices to Students of Dīn/Madāris
“A true student is one whose routine and conduct does not change whilst away from the Madrasah.”
Refraining from sins
- Each student should try his best to refrain from displeasing Allāh ta‘ālā. We try and refrain from doing those things which anger and displease our parents, teachers, etc. Yet we are careless in matters which bring the anger and displeasure of Allāh ta‘ālā. Is the displeasure of Allāh ta‘ālā insignificant compared to that of parents or teachers?
Therefore always remain occupied in doing something good and worthwhile whilst
refraining from each and every disobedience to Allāh ta‘ālā whether you are at home
or outside of the home.
Salāh
- Salāh should never become qadā.
- Every salāh must be performed with jamā’ah in the Masjid.
- Devote at least one hour every day to complete qadā salāh from the past.
Tilāwah
- Tilāwah of the Glorious Qur’ān is a source of barakah in ‘ilm.
- During the holidays, the non-Huffāz should read one juz daily and the Huffāz three juz. If more is recited it is even better.
- Students with any deficiencies in hifz should set targets/make arrangements to
remove these deficiencies.
Ma’mulāt
- Be regular with your ma’mulāt. Allocate time and complete them daily.
Company
- We all know the benefits of good company and the harms of bad company; refrain from bad company at all times.
- Spend all your time in a good environment and good company.
- Find time to sit in the durūs of the ‘Ulamā and other Dīnī programmes taking place in the Masjid.
Parents, Teachers, Relatives and other Muslims
- Find time to visit relatives for the pleasure of Allāh ta‘ālā.
- Also visit the sick in the locality.
- Visit all your teachers including the teachers who taught you alphabets.
- Spend quality time with parents and make them happy.
Studying
- Choose a kitāb from the books of our pious predecessors and always carry it with and you study its contents.
- Set aside at least one hour each day to study and revise darsiyyāt (madrasah
syllabus). - Those with deficiencies in particular subjects should spend as much time as possible in removing them.
Du’ā
- Du’ā is the essence of ‘ibādah; it should be part of a Muslim’s life in any case, but
more time should be devoted to du’ā during the holidays.
Muhāsabah
- Each night, look back at how you have spent the previous 24 hours. Make shukr to Allāh ta‘ālā for being granted the tawfīq to do good; repent from mistakes committed and make a firm resolution not to repeat them again.
Value time as wasting time is wasting the precious moments of your life!
